When a gorgeous, stunning, classy, educated black woman marries a white guy...is she seen as a trophy wife?
in the way that it is if a white woman with the same qualities marries a black man?
Maybe. I don't think it should be something we think about. I think he'd just view her as his wife. You have to think of it from both people's points of view though. Unfortunately, people will notice what they don't see. Interracial couples aren't rare. But they're still not common enough where people won't notice. Most people don't have a problem with it. They just think it is unusual.
It'd depend on how black the population of this place were too. The larger the African-American population, the more ability there is to isolate among themselves. In the rural deep south, people just socially practice what they've done for several generations even if they hold no or less vigor to other races.
Whether we'd like to admit or not, we initiate on physical attraction. Some white guy's really like black women. And some black women really like white guy's. There is nothing wrong with going who you're seuxally attracted to as long as the two people have common interests and like each other. The group who takes this the worst are African-American men. Some feel as though they carry marry white women (attractive or not), but don't like it the other way around. They're usually more tolerant to this than black men who are with black women.
From a black women's perspective though, it'd be easier to get to a white guy since white men are the majority of men. What hurts African-American women seeming ''datable'' to many white women is they have an attitude and protectiveness to being black which white men don't have the patience for.
I've dated Attractive Black women. I didn't rub it in other black guy's faces. I'd actually hear from other white guys ''score one for the white guys'' more than bigotry. Likewise, if a black women is dating an Attractive White guy and that is a bit out of the norm, she won't be shy about this too. It is a responsibility of everyone to break these barriers.
